FAQs
Is your upstairs always warmer than your downstairs?
If your house is like most, the upstairs is always warmer and
the downstairs which is a result of warm air rising and cold air sinking.
Are the south and west sides of your house
always
warmer than
the north and east sides?
This is due to
the solar gain on the south and west sides. These are called different
zones and each one requires its own airflow. The best HVAC equipment
to use with these controls is a two-stage heating and cooling system
with a GE variable speed motor. This system is best able to deliver
the right amount of heating and cooling needed to meet the variety
of airflows demanded by each zone.
Is there a whistling noise in
your ductwork when your system runs?
You require a variable speed motor that delivers greater
efficiency and comfort along with a more quiet operation. Available
in furnace and heat pumps from every major manufacturer. Its the
only motor capable of starting quietly and then slowly ramping
up to speed.
Do you feel clammy even after your air conditioner
has run?
Your present system only satisfies the thermostat
and runs for a short period of time. On the other hand a two-stage
air conditioner runs for longer cycles in its low capacity. That
means the system can extract more than twice as much moisture
as a conventional unit, producing drier, more comfortable air.
Is
there a cold blast of air when your heating system comes on?
This can
only be solved by allowing the fan to stay on between start-ups
which lessens temperature stratification (term used to describe
the effect of warm air rising and cool air sinking). The GE variable
speed provides that benefit and more.
Does the temperature in your
house vary noticeably
up and down without touching the thermostat?
A two-stage system operates
for longer cycles and keeps the temperature of the house more even.
Is there a lot of dust visible in your house?
A two-stage
motor, by opting to allow its fan to run continuously, filters
the air on a steady basis thus eliminating dust and pollen.
Do your monthly utility bills cause you discomfort in your pocketbook?
Switching to a two-stage system will use only
about 60 to 80 watts, thus saving about $240,00 on the electric
bill in a year. This should add comfort to your pocketbook.
